Award-winning actor Chad Joseph Doreck, known for his work in theatre, television, and film, was born and raised in Southern California. He grew up in a blue-collar family in Long Beach, CA, as the son of Stephen Doreck, a contractor from Kentucky, and Catherine Doreck, a homemaker from Chicago, with one sister and one brother.
Chad began extensive training in acting and performing arts at a young age and joined the Screen Actors Guild at just 8 years old. After attending St. Maria Goretti Catholic grade school, he was accepted into the prestigious theatre program at the Orange County School of the Arts, where he studied alongside other working actors and future Tony, Emmy, and Oscar winners. He briefly studied film at USC but left to focus on his acting career.
Having appeared in hundreds of commercials, voice-overs, cartoons, television shows, films, and stage productions, Chad is recognized for his versatility across different disciplines and genres. His professional debut was in the music video for the title track of the movie Weird Science, working with Kelly LeBrock, Danny Elfman, and director Howie Deutsch. In 2006, Broadway casting directors discovered him during the reality competition Grease: You're the One That I Want. After finishing in the top four, he was cast in the hit Off-Broadway musical comedy Altar Boyz. He credits actress Gloria Gifford, his mentor, for transforming his career by directing him in the acclaimed Los Angeles production of Sam Shepard's Fool for Love, for which he earned several awards and accolades.
In addition to acting, Chad is an accomplished singer, songwriter, and dancer. He received the Mercury Records songwriting scholarship at UCLA and has danced for renowned choreographers such as Debbie Allen and Wade Robson. In his free time, he studies Spanish, Krav Maga, and fencing. He is an avid gardener and a classic movie enthusiast, with Cary Grant as his idol. He volunteers at the horse rescue Hoofprints to Freedom and runs the charity Heart of Rock and Roll, which produces concerts that raise funds for music programs in local schools.
