Mon Confiado is a Filipino actor with over 300 local film credits and more than 700 television appearances and guest roles since 1993. He earned the Best Supporting Actor Award at the prestigious FAMAS (Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences) in 2008 for his role in "Faces of Love," directed by National Artist for Film Eddie Romero, a recognition comparable to the American Academy Awards. He has also received nominations from various award-giving bodies in the Philippines.
In addition to his film career, he is an accomplished theater actor, having performed in numerous stage productions with different theater groups. He played the lead role in Dulaang U.P.'s longest-running play, "The Trial," with over 300 performances. He also starred as Leonardo in Federico Lorca's "The Blood Wedding" ("Bodas de Sangre"). Other notable lead roles include characters in "Noli Me Tangere" (Touch Me Not), "No Exit," "Kanser," "Baclofen," and "Kristo."
Mon Confiado recently worked alongside award-winning French actress Isabelle Huppert ("The Piano Teacher") in "Captive," directed by Filipino Cannes Best Director Brillante Mendoza. He portrayed an inmate in the upcoming film "Dance of the Steel Bars," inspired by the YouTube sensation Cebu Dancing Inmates, co-starring Hollywood actor Patrick Bergin ("Sleeping With The Enemy"). He held the second lead role in "Behind Enemy Lines" with Thomas Ian Griffith ("Karate Kid," "Vampires"). In the film "Legacy," he shared the screen with David Hasselhoff ("Baywatch," "Knight Rider") and Rod Steiger ("In The Heat Of The Night," "Al Capone"). He appeared with Casper Van Dien ("Starship Troopers," "Tarzan") in "Going Back," and worked alongside Michael Dudikoff ("American Ninja," "Tron") in "Soldier Boyz."
Born in Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines, Mon Confiado stands 5 feet 10 inches tall. He is the son of veteran Filipino character actor Angel Confiado. He graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from the Mapua Institute of Technology. Besides acting, he is an entrepreneur, owning several bars and restaurants in Manila and Cebu City, including the 22nd Street Comedy Bar, one of the pioneers of comedy bars in the Philippines since 1997. He also co-owns Rock Street, ILoveSteak Steak House, and Fab Body Spa, Salon, and Nail Bar with his siblings.
