Television and film actor. Pentathlon champion. Father. Werewolf. Born in Scarborough, Ontario, and raised in a farm town northeast of Toronto, Kris has a driven spirit that has led to success in many areas of his life. Although he knew early on that he wanted to act, his family did not widely support this career choice. Instead of pursuing acting immediately, Kris chose to study international commerce at Concordia University’s School of Business in Montreal.
While studying, Kris remained a strong athlete throughout grammar and high school. He quickly excelled, joining the Canadian National Pentathlon Team and earning silver medals in riding and fencing at both the Pan American and Pan Pacific Pentathlon Championships. Despite his athletic talent, financial realities and personal interests eventually drew him toward acting.
In 1994, Kris joined a small Montreal agency to earn money to support his education. His first audition was for the lead role in *Young Ivanhoe*, a 12th-century children’s period drama. With the right skills, looks, and talent, he secured the role and has been acting ever since.
Kris is best known for playing Dyson, a charismatic werewolf-shifter working as a police detective in the Syfy series *Lost Girl*. He also appeared as Quint in *Underworld Awakening*, the fourth installment of the *Underworld* franchise, and starred in *The Returned*.
Viewers may recognize Kris as William Compton on Showtime’s acclaimed series *The Tudors* (2007). He has maintained a steady acting career for nearly two decades, with multi-episode roles on *Degrassi: The Next Generation*, *M.V.P.*, and *The Bridge*. His film credits include *K-19: The Widowmaker* and *Gossip*, among others.
To refine his craft, Kris has trained with Uta Hagen’s Master Class Scene Study and studied under Janine Manatis at the Actor’s Studio NY and the National Film Acting School.
Outside of acting, Kris enjoys adventure, travel, and outdoor activities such as sailing, scuba diving, surfing, and yoga. One of his favorite films is *Gandhi*.
If given the chance, Kris would love to work with legendary directors like Martin Scorsese, Ridley Scott, and Steven Spielberg, as he aspires to eventually move behind the camera. He currently lives in Toronto with his son and his black Labrador, Hopper.
