Luiz Villaça has an extensive career spanning cinema, television, and theater. In film, he wrote and directed the features Por trás do pano (1999), Cristina quer casar (Fox 2003), and O Contador de Histórias (Warner 2009). His work has received numerous national and international accolades, including Best Film by the popular jury at the Gramado Film Festival, Best Actress at the Habana Film Festival, the Grande Prêmio Brasil, and the International Amnesty Award, among others.
In 2016, he released De onde eu te vejo, produced by BossaNovaFilms, Globo Filmes, and Warner.
Villaça has created and directed several TV programs for TV GLOBO, such as Retrato Falado, Copas de Mel, Dias de Glória, Te Quiero America, Norma, and A Mulher do Prefeito, the latter being nominated for the 2014 International Emmy Awards.
He also created and directed two seasons of the series 3 Teresas for GNT in 2013 and 2014.
In 2015, he created and directed the series Vizinhos for GNT.
In theater, he recently directed Sem Pensar by Anya Reiss (2011) and Arthur Miller's The Ride Down Mt. Morgan (2013). Additionally, he produced Bertolt Brecht's A Alma Boa de Setsuan (2009) and Galileu Galilei (2015).
