Philip Sheppard, a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music and virtuoso cellist, has composed music for film, documentaries, video games, television, and theatre. He has collaborated with notable music innovators such as UNKLE, ODESZA, Model Man, and Scott Walker.
His score for In the Shadow of the Moon earned an International Film Critics Award nomination for Best Original Score for a Documentary and garnered several honors, including the Sundance Audience Award for World Cinema Documentary. His compositions have accompanied a diverse range of documentaries, including Bobby Fischer Against the World, focused on the legendary chess player; the poignant sports and war documentary The Tillman Story; and the intimate Love, Marilyn, based on Marilyn Monroe’s personal journals and letters.
Versatile across various formats, Philip’s television docuseries work includes the Emmy-nominated HBO true crime series I'll Be Gone in the Dark about the Golden State Killer, as well as Human Universe, which delves into some of humanity’s deepest questions. He also lent his exceptional skills to the acclaimed Quantic Dream video game Detroit: Become Human.
Beyond his extensive media work, Philip has produced, conducted, music directed, and arranged numerous large-scale, intricate live events such as the 2008 Beijing Olympics closing ceremony, the national anthems for the 2012 London Olympics, the Tour de France, and the Rugby World Cup.
