Almeera Jiwa is a film, stage, and voice actress based in Vancouver, BC.
She began performing in community and school theatre at age five. By 12, she secured her first TV role on Tell-A-Tale-Town, a children’s show where she wrote and performed a story live. This led to interest from local talent agents who encouraged her to pursue acting professionally. At 17, Almeera signed with her first agent and landed the lead role in the film "Soulstice."
As a high school senior deciding on her future, Almeera was torn between acting and business. With her family’s support, she enrolled in and graduated from Vancouver’s prestigious Studio 58 theatre conservatory. There, instructors fostered her creativity and provided unique training in both directing and acting, setting her on a path to tell stories as an actress, director, and producer while gaining both artistic and business skills.
After completing the rigorous three-year program at Studio 58, Almeera took lead and ingenue roles with major Vancouver theatre companies, appeared on prominent network television shows, and produced significant performances and productions citywide, including events for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
In 2011, she relocated to Atlanta to further her acting career in the city’s flourishing film industry. Beyond acting in film, TV, and commercials, Almeera produced and starred in two award-winning short films and created an entertainment show featuring celebrity interviews with stars like John Legend, Steve Harvey, and America Ferrera. She has also served on the advisory boards of Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre and Actor’s Express Theatre.
Almeera pursued her passion for business by earning a communications degree focused on public relations and journalism. Graduating summa cum laude from Georgia State University, she remains an active alumna, founding the Honor’s College Young Alumni Board and establishing a scholarship for community-oriented students.
An award-winning actress, Almeera has appeared in Nickelodeon’s "Romeo" and "The Troop," USA Network’s "Psych," SYFY’s "Sanctuary," and FOX’s "Star." Most recently, she portrayed Anam in the feature film "Shaft," starring alongside the legendary Samuel L. Jackson.
