Hume collaborated with Fanshawe Acting students on productions of William Shakespeare's "The Winter's Tale" and Judith Thompson's "Lion in the Streets." Trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in England, he has been acting for thirty-four years. Recently, he portrayed The Fool in "King Lear" alongside David Fox in the title role with Watershed Shakespeare in North Bay and at Theatre Passe Muraille in Toronto. His recent credits also include "War of the Clowns" with Pea Green at the 2015 Festival of Clowns, "To Kill a Mockingbird" at Young People's Theatre, "Cymbeline's Reign" with Shakespeare in the Ruff in Withrow Park, "Dinner at Seven-Thirty" with Theatre Rusticle at Buddies in Bad Times, "The Taming of the Shrew" and "Macbeth" with Canadian Stage in High Park, "The Charge of The Expormidable Moose" with One Little Goat, and his solo show "The Girl in the Picture Tries to Hang Up the Phone" at video fag in Toronto and Theatre Kingston. Hume has performed with the Stratford and Shaw Festivals, Tarragon, Factory, Passe Muraille, Threshold, Platform 9, Modern Times, Shakespeare in the Ruff, Eldritch, Wild Excursions, Artword, and Festival of Classics, as well as various theatres throughout Canada. Upcoming is a production of "Our Town" with Theatre Rusticle at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre. His directing work includes "Twelfth Night" (Direct Flight/Gromkat), "Rising Below the Sun" (Cecelia McHugh/TPM Backspace), "Therac 25" (Direct Flight), "All's Well That Ends Well" (Alchemy), "Child Hood" (Summerworks), and "La Duchesse de Langeais" (Orlando Fringe). Hume's play "Crush" was staged by Optic Heart Theatre in December 2011, following an earlier production at Summerworks in 2008, and received a 2012 Dora Mavor Moore Award nomination for Outstanding New Play or Musical in the Independent Theatre Production Division. His teaching experience includes George Brown College, Canadore College, Fraser Studios, Theatre Rusticle, and Tarragon Theatre. Additionally, he has published prose and poetry in Queen's Quarterly, This Magazine, and The New Quarterly.
