Emmy Award-winning composer Frederik Wiedmann is recognized as one of the most versatile and accomplished talents in contemporary film scoring. With a portfolio exceeding 150 projects across various genres, Wiedmann has built a reputation as a perceptive artist deeply passionate about storytelling.
Recently, he scored Star Trek: Picard (Season 3) for Paramount+ and Women is Losers, starring Simu Liu, which debuted at SXSW in early 2021. His recent work also includes the thriller Alone (featuring Donald Sutherland and Tyler Posey), Hangman (directed by Johnny Martin, starring Al Pacino, Karl Urban, and Brittany Snow), Millennium Films' Acts of Vengeance (starring Antonio Banderas, Paz Vega, and Karl Urban), and Day of the Dead: Bloodline (with Sophie Skelton and Jonathon Schaech). Additional credits include Universal's Doom – Annihilation, the epic Civil War drama Field of Lost Shoes (directed by Sean McNamara), Paul Schrader's Dying of the Light, The Damned, Blumhouse’s horror anthology Into the Dark (for Hulu), and the Australian sci-fi hit Occupation: Rainfall (2021).
His upcoming project is the highly anticipated animated series Batman: Caped Crusader for Amazon Prime Video, focusing on the hero’s fight against Gotham City’s criminals. The series features an executive production team including J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves, and Bruce Timm. Wiedmann plans to incorporate a variety of musical genres in each episode, creating a dark and enigmatic score for the titular character.
Wiedmann is also known for composing the music for Nickelodeon's Big Nate and the critically acclaimed Netflix animated fantasy series The Dragon Prince, created by the writers of Avatar: The Last Airbender, which earned him an Emmy nomination for original score. In 2016, he won a Daytime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Original Song" alongside lyricist Mitch Watson for "True Bromance," featured in DreamWorks Animation’s Madagascar spin-off All Hail King Julien.
A consistent presence in the DC cinematic universe, Wiedmann began with Green Lantern: The Animated Series, earning two consecutive Annie Award nominations. His success there led to scoring several prominent Warner Bros. DC projects, including Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, Son of Batman, Death of Superman, Justice League: Gods and Monsters, and Batman: Gotham by Gaslight.
