Dr. Kathleen (Kate) Scott is an American producer who began her career as a child actor at age 11 before transitioning to Executive Producer for Rising Sun (2012), a notably diverse and inclusive family TV pilot. By 14, she graduated high school and went on to earn her PhD with Honors from Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA at age 24, becoming their youngest Master of Science graduate. Prior to that, she graduated Summa Cum Laude in Pre-Law from GCU, where she also earned Dean's Academic Honors and was a Presidential Scholar. At 16, she received a Fine Arts degree with Honors from El Camino College in Torrance, CA. At 19, she completed Harvard Business School's Certificate program in Entrepreneurship, demonstrating her strong intellect alongside her artistic talents.
At 14, Kate booked the opening scene promo for Nickelodeon's Bella and the Bulldogs (2015) as a cheerleader. Shortly after, she paused acting to focus full-time on college. Despite working with notable actors such as Adrien Brody, Octavia Spencer, Carmen Argenziano, Garrett Wang, Lorenzo Lamas, Holly Marie Combs, James Garner, and Kaley Cuoco, she chose to pursue her education on her own terms. At 15, as a full-time college sophomore, she produced and directed several projects, including #Disneyland60 (2015), which was an Official Selection at the 2015 L.A. Shorts Film Festival. Two years earlier, her comedy film Way of Seeing (2013), in which she played a mother to Dagney Kerr, was also screened at the Oscar- and BAFTA-qualifying L.A. Shorts Fest. #Disneyland60 won Best Documentary at AOF, and her Shaolin Kung Fu documentary Game Changer (2015) was an Official Selection at the same festival. Kate received the Best Young Filmmaker award and a Stella Adler Scholarship. Game Changer earned her a Best Leading Young Actress nomination at the 2016 Young Entertainer Awards at Universal Studios. She returned for two more YEA nominations, winning for her voice-over work in 2018. That year also brought two Young Artist Academy nominations and recognition for her voice-over work on the revival series based on the 1940s-50s CBS radio anthology Suspense. The last documentary she executive produced while still studying was the inspiring 1 (2016), featuring Tiffany Haddish, A.C. Green, and Terri Simmons, all dedicated to service and paying it forward. At 18, as she aged out of youth awards, she received the inaugural "Inspiration to Youth" Award from the Young Artist Academy at their 40th Annual Award Show in July 2019. This honor recognized her dedication to positive youth representation in media, filmmaking, and education, and was presented by her close friend Marilyn Ghigliotti. Kate’s work continues to reach global audiences through social media platforms.
This versatile California talent cherishes her experiences as a former child actor and continues to build a distinguished career across multiple industries. Her hiatus allowed her to strengthen her producing skills and create outstanding educational online content during the COVID-19 pandemic. She presented her acclaimed, copyrighted talk, "Learning, Inclusion, & Technology in The Modern Classroom," at the 2021 Educator's Rising National Conference, which is available on YouTube. Despite personal challenges, including the loss of her father to cancer and her mother’s long-term battle with chronic illness, Kate remains a dedicated advocate for education and literacy. She mentors youth and proudly serves as a Game Planner for the three-time NBA Champion A.C. Green Youth Foundation’s summer leadership sports camps. Coming from a humble background, she consistently gives back to her community. With faith, intelligence, and humility, Kate Scott continues to focus on family, education, and embracing positive opportunities for the future.
