Emin Agalarov is an Azerbaijani-Russian singer and entrepreneur, known for writing and performing songs in both English and Russian. He enjoys significant popularity in Azerbaijan and Russia.
Born in Baku, Azerbaijan, Emin Agalarov moved to Tenafly, New Jersey, in 1994 and graduated from Tenafly High School in 1997. He later earned a degree from Marymount Manhattan College in New York.
His passion for music began during high school in the United States. After finishing high school, he returned to Russia and continued songwriting. In 2005, he started collaborating with his vocal and music mentor, Azerbaijani singer Muslim Magomayev, whom he honors in his concerts.
In 2006, Emin gained recognition with his debut studio album Still, which sold 70,000 copies in Russia and an additional 30,000 copies across CIS countries within six months.
He released an album each year thereafter: Incredible (2007), Obsession (2008)—a collection of Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley classics—and Devotion (2009). Each album was supported by concerts in Moscow and Baku.
In 2010, he moved to London to work with producer Brian Rawling and to focus on the UK music market. His album Wonder was released in Russia and CIS in November 2010 and in the UK on March 21, 2011. The single "Heart Keeps Beating" from his second album After the Thunder received substantial radio airplay in Russia in 2012.
The first single from his 2012 album After the Thunder, "Baby Get Higher," written by David Sneddon, Graham Stack, and Mark Read, was added to the BBC Radio 2 A-List in April 2012.
On May 26, 2012, Emin performed as the local interval act during the intermission at the Baku 2012 Grand Final, held in his hometown. He performed "Never Enough," a track from After the Thunder.
Agalarov opened for Jennifer Lopez’s concert in Baku on September 23, 2012.
On November 9, 2013, he performed at the Miss Universe 2013 evening gown competition in Moscow.
Emin appeared in the music video for "In Another Life" alongside Donald Trump and Miss Universe 2013 contestants, who participated without compensation.
In May 2014, Emin received the Best-selling Azerbaijan Artist award at the World Music Awards. In 2016, he became the organizer and producer of the annual Zhara (Hot) Music Festival held at Sea Breeze in his hometown of Baku.
