Originally from Hollister, California, Kirk has spent over twenty years in the entertainment industry. Beginning his career as a stand-up comedian in San Francisco, he then joined Luis Valdez's renowned theatre company, El Teatro Campesino, becoming both an actor and resident playwright. After relocating to Southern California to pursue new opportunities, Kirk was invited to join Tim Robbins' esteemed Los Angeles theatre troupe, The Actors' Gang. There, he expanded his skills as a dramaturge, designer, and producer, honing his writing and performance abilities, which led to his acclaimed one-man show, 3 Stories Tall, a highlight at the HBO Aspen Comedy Festival. Since then, Kirk has appeared in numerous feature films, including blockbusters like Forrest Gump, indie hits like Lords of Dogtown, and Michael Bay's box office disappointment, The Island. His extensive television work includes recently signing on to star in the Amazon TV pilot Zombieland. As a screenwriter, Kirk sold his first project, First, Last and Security, featuring Jack Black, to Disney, followed by another Disney project, Park It Here. In 2009, he partnered with Greg Coolidge to sell the live-action series The Exchange to Cartoon Network, and more recently, they sold the feature film Take My Wife to Lionsgate, starring The Rock and Tyler Perry.
