Kia Kiso is a dedicated and insightful producer with a deep appreciation for the transformative power of media. Beginning her filmmaking journey at age 12, she quickly recognized its broad impact. Kia is committed to creating narratives that entertain, inspire, and foster positive change in people's lives. With over 90 credits to her name, she has developed a diverse skill set, producing a variety of projects including music videos, TV pilots, network promos, and socially conscious documentaries.
Kia holds a Bachelor's degree in Filmmaking and a Minor in Business from Santa Fe University of Arts and Design, underscoring her commitment to refining her craft. Prior to focusing on producing, she gained valuable experience in roles such as union Camera Assistant, Telecine Colorist/Color Grader, Commercial Production Coordinator, and VFX Coordinator/Liaison to Director at Rhythm & Hues. These roles enriched her perspective, enabling a well-rounded approach to production.
Her work has earned numerous awards and nominations, including Best Short Film for "Hallways & Doors," Best Feature Documentary for "Mile... Mile & A Half," and Best Music Video for Keb' Mo's "America the Beautiful." Recently, she received six Telly Awards for her work on the Pareto Labs educational library and an additional Telly for the Media Access Awards. Her feature documentary "Spiritual Liberation" gained recognition from Oprah, who recommended it to her audience.
Kia has been repeatedly honored with nominations for the Women Making a Difference Award by the Los Angeles Business Journal from 2013 to 2019, reflecting her dedication to impactful storytelling and meaningful change.
In addition to her professional achievements, Kia actively participates in industry organizations. She is a respected member of the Producers Guild of America, where she helped found the Social Impact Entertainment Task Force and previously served as Co-Chair of the Employment Committee. Her commitment to inclusivity is evident through her involvement with the Producers Guild of America Diversity in Producing Committee and as Co-Producer of the Media Access Awards. She also serves on advisory boards for various organizations, contributing to ongoing industry progress.
