Grant MacDermott, an actor, playwright, and teacher, is a New York-based performer originally from New Jersey. He began his professional acting career at thirteen, appearing in commercials and live theater. Grant later moved to Boston, where he earned a BFA in Acting and Theater from Emerson College. Immersed in Boston's acting scene, he performed in commercials, small film roles, and numerous stage productions. His credits include Medea with the Actor's Shakespeare Project; Rent with New Repertory Theater; Nicholas Nickleby with The Lyric Stage Company; The Great American Trailer Park Musical with SpeakEasy Stage; and the American premiere of Now or Later at the Huntington Theater, alongside Tony Award winner Adriane Lenox and directed by Broadway's Michael Wilson.
In Boston, Grant discovered a passion for teaching and co-founded My College Audition, a company dedicated to helping students prepare for auditions at top performing arts programs nationwide. He guides students through interview preparation, audition room presence, material selection, and forging genuine connections with their pieces. After years of teaching and performing in Boston, Grant relocated to New York City to continue supporting individuals in achieving their performance goals at New York Vocal Coaching. Alongside co-director Arbender Robinson and NYVC founder Justin Stoney, he helped establish New York Acting Coaching, a comprehensive resource for actors offering everything they need under one roof.
MacDermott’s screen career began in 2012 with the drama short Last Man Out. He appeared next in the short film Cork Man (2015) and made his feature film debut in the drama-thriller Iris (2022), starring opposite Alice Kremelberg. His television debut came in 2017 with an episode of USA Network’s Mr. Robot, featuring Christian Slater, Portia Doubleday, and Rami Malek. In early 2018, he completed work on the dramedy Love Is Blind (2019).
