Harvey Crossland is a director, writer, and executive producer, recognized for his work on Hudson & Rex (2020–2023), Murdoch Mysteries (2009–2021), and Ruby And The Well (2022–2023).
His projects span a variety of genres, from the dark thriller THE LISTENER to the romantic Hallmark Christmas films; from the historical drama MURDOCH MYSTERIES to the modern adventure HUDSON & REX; from the award-winning Nat Geo martial arts series DEADLY ARTS to the grand historical narrative FOR KING AND EMPIRE.
Harvey has directed numerous nominated and award-winning TV series, documentaries, docudramas, TV movies, and a feature film. His shoots have taken him across Canada, the Arctic, and globally to Brazil, Thailand, Okinawa, South Africa, Japan, India, France, England, the United States, Holland, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Ireland, Belgium, Turkey, Cuba, Hong Kong, Argentina, Russia, Estonia, and Ukraine. His work has aired on networks such as CBC, CTV, CITY, Hallmark, A&E, PBS, BBC, ALIBI, W, ITV, Vision, Biography, TLC, Family Channel, Noggin, Disney, Nickelodeon, Discovery Health, Fox Kids, Fox U.S., Fox International, YTV, Canal Plus, Canal J, ZDF, France 3, ABC Australia, National Geographic, History, Discovery, and many others.
Holding dual Canadian and Irish citizenship, Harvey travels and works using both Canadian and EU passports.
He began his film and television career in Vancouver, Canada, where he co-founded two production companies: Hy Perspectives Media Group and Siren Films. His production of the feature docudrama CLOSE TO HOME, focusing on the cycle of sexual abuse, runaways, and juvenile prostitution, received national acclaim as a movie of the week. His documentary SOMEWHERE BETWEEN contributed to ending legislative discrimination against Indigenous women under The Indian Act.
