Niki Edwards, born Dyana Nikole Edwards in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, spent most of her childhood there. Drawn to the performing arts from an early age, she began her passion for the stage with The Big Island Children's Theatre. Growing up, she traveled frequently across the US with her family, moving from California to Arizona and throughout the Southeast. Her mother's creative Gypsy spirit eventually led them to Atlanta, Georgia, to reconnect with their Southern roots.
Niki attended South Gwinnett High School, where she was actively involved in theatre and swimming. She cherished her time in the water almost as much as performing before her peers. Beyond acting, Niki developed a strong interest in lighting, props, and set design.
After graduating high school in 2007, Niki enrolled at Georgia College & State University (now Georgia College), earning a degree in Theatre.
Following graduation, she returned to Atlanta to undertake a prestigious year-long internship with the theatre company Actors Express. There, she discovered the exhilarating and intense world of professional theatre and quickly fell in love with it. Her roles included parts in Equus Ensemble, Izzy in Seminar, and Janey in Sarah Gubbins’ world premiere of A Sense of Things. She also gained valuable crew experience as Assistant Stage Manager for the world premiere of Steve Yockey's Wolves.
After completing her internship, Niki expanded her network within Atlanta’s theatre scene, eventually working on crew for several independent short films. It was during this time that she realized her future lay in film.
Since then, Niki has acted in numerous independent short films, feature-length independents, and various web series in Atlanta. She has collaborated with companies such as Blackflight Studios, Spirit World Films, IAF Media, Single Serving Pictures, and Monolopolus Productions, among others. When not performing, she works behind the camera, pursuing a career in directing. Watch for Niki Edwards as she aims for the festival circuit in 2017.
