Krishnan Guru-Murthy is a principal anchor for Channel 4 News. He has reported and presented Channel 4's special coverage of significant events, including the Omagh bombing in 1998, September 11, 2001, the 2003 Iraq War, and the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Between 2003 and 2009, he was the main anchor for News at Noon and previously hosted the political program Powerhouse. He has covered five UK general elections and several internationally, recognized as one of Britain's leading political interviewers. He also hosts special political programs like the Ask the Chancellors debate during the 2010 election campaign and How to Save a Hundred Billion Pounds.
Krishnan joined Channel 4 in 1998 after a decade at the BBC, where he presented, reported, and produced on shows ranging from Newsnight to Newsround, covering topics from wars and disasters to politics and pop music. He was part of the live reporting team for the Funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales.
His broadcasting career began during his gap year before attending Oxford University, when his appearance on BBC 2's youth discussion program Open to Question led to him becoming its presenter. He later worked on other youth programs such as Reportage.
Krishnan has hosted numerous other series and one-off programs for Channel 4's Science department, including The Operation: Surgery Live, The Autopsy, Britain's Deadliest Addictions, and Going Cold Turkey. In Current Affairs, he has presented The TV Show and contributed reports for Dispatches. He has also presented radio programs for LBC and BBC Radio 4, and contributed articles to various newspapers.
Additionally, Krishnan has appeared on various entertainment and comedy shows, including 8 out of 10 Cats, Have I Got News for You, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, and Bremner, Bird and Fortune. He also hosted The National Lottery Live.
