Leif is currently directing the feature film Dancing Through the Shadow of Mao, set for release in late 2020. Many of the films he has directed are distributed worldwide by MGM and Fox, including Love on Safari (2018), The Apostle Peter: Redemption (2016), and The Red Dress (2015). He has produced 18 films for HBO, earning 6 Primetime Emmy Awards, and has contributed to some of the highest-rated films on the Hallmark Channel, such as Love, Romance & Chocolate (2019), Veteran's Christmas (2018), and Christmas Next Door (2017). Leif specializes in shooting in international locations to enhance storytelling and viewer experience, having filmed in Belgium, South Africa, Italy, Ireland, Croatia, Kenya, Malta, and with his latest film, Taiwan. His 2003 film Blizzard is considered a Christmas Classic by MGM, playing worldwide annually and featured for three minutes during the opening of the 75th Academy Awards Ceremony. He has collaborated with renowned industry talents including Oscar winners Christopher Plummer, Brenda Blethyn, and Whoopi Goldberg, as well as actors like Gabriel Byrne, Lacey Chabert, Joanne Whalley, Kevin Sorbo, Debra Kara Unger, and longtime friend John Rhys-Davies. Most importantly, he has enjoyed working closely with his wife, Agnes Bristow, a writer and co-producer, along with many films and TV shows featuring his daughter Brittany Bristow.
