Luke Snellin, born in Romford, Essex, received a BAFTA Film Award nomination in 2010 for his short film Mixtape (2009). He was also recognized as one of Screen International's "Stars of Tomorrow" and Broadcast Magazine's "Hot Shots."
He directed episodes of My Mad Fat Diary (2013), Banana (2015), and The A Word (2016), before serving as lead director on Wanderlust (2018), written by Nick Payne and starring Toni Collette, and Temple (2019), written by Mark O'Rowe and featuring Mark Strong.
His feature film debut, Let It Snow (2019), is an adaptation of the YA novel by John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle. The cast includes Isabela Merced, Shameik Moore, Odeya Rush, Kiernan Shipka, and Joan Cusack. Released by Netflix in 2019, it earned a GLAAD award nomination in 2020.
In 2021, Snellin won an RTS award for directing Feel Good (2020), created by Mae Martin and Joe Hampson, starring Mae Martin, Charlotte Ritchie, and Lisa Kudrow. The show also received the NME Award for Best TV Series and was ranked sixth on The Guardian's list of the 50 best TV shows of 2021.
He directed four episodes of One Day (2024), Nicole Taylor’s adaptation of David Nicholls’ beloved novel, which premiered on Netflix in February 2024 to critical and audience praise, and was nominated for a BAFTA TV Award in the Limited Drama category in March 2025.
Snellin also directed and executive produced all four episodes of Warp Films' mini-series Reunion (2025), which began airing on BBC One in April 2025. The series stars Matthew Gurney, Lara Peake, Anne-Marie Duff, Eddie Marsan, and Rose Ayling-Ellis.
This bilingual drama, written by deaf writer William Mager, features both spoken English and British Sign Language. It has been described as "groundbreaking" by The Standard and an "absolute revelation" by The Guardian.
He resides in South East London with his wife and two children.
