Stephen's Hollywood journey began at Elstree Studios in London, U.K., where, as a curious five-year-old, he visited the set of the classic British TV series "The Saint" (starring Roger Moore) with his father, Norman I. Hudis, who had written the episode. Upon meeting Roger Moore, Stephen cheekily called him "Sweaty Face" after a fight scene, to which Moore responded kindly. Unbeknownst to Stephen, this moment marked the start of his lifelong passion for the industry.
A few years later, Stephen moved to America with his family: his mother Rita, an R.N. who served as a technical advisor and set medic on M*A*S*H; his infant brother Kevin; and his father, who was recruited by M.G.M. (now Sony Studios) to work on "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." and other notable TV shows of the 1960s and 1970s.
At twelve, Stephen secured his first role—a voice-over—in the final film of Hollywood legend George Cukor, "Justine." This led to guest and lead parts on popular TV shows like "The Psychiatrist," directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Roy Thinnes, as well as numerous commercials. He also landed a lead role in Warner Brothers' feature film "The Cowboys" (1972), starring John Wayne, Roscoe Lee Browne, Bruce Dern, and Colleen Dewhurst, directed by Mark Rydell.
In 1973, out of hundreds of hopefuls worldwide, Stephen was cast as the lead in the ITV/Derrick Sherwin production "Ski-Boy," filming 13 episodes in about as many weeks in St. Luc, Switzerland.
After a brief time at Loyola Marymount University Film School in Westchester, California, Stephen left to work as a Production Assistant. He advanced through nearly every department on film sets and today his work appears in numerous car commercials, TV shows, and feature films as a stunt performer, stunt driver, stunt coordinator, and second-unit director.
In January 2000, he set a world record by jumping a 10-ton school bus 108 feet over fifteen motorcycles—while the bus was on fire.
Stephen is now preparing to make his directorial debut with "The Summoning," which he co-wrote with his wife, Lindy S. Hudis, a published novelist and filmmaker.
He holds dual UK and U.S. citizenship, owns two passports, and maintains a perfect safety record. He and Lindy have two children.
