Navid Navid is an acclaimed Iranian-German actor and director. Born in Tehran, Iran, in 1980, he left his homeland at age five with his family as refugees, resettling in Germany in 1985.
Thanks to his father's career as an event manager, Navid was introduced to the stage and entertainment world from the age of six as a singer and dancer. In his youth, he found success in the Iranian music scene with his pop band 'Navid & Omid', which released two studio albums ('Faryad' and 'Kolli Sefaresh') and multiple music videos.
In 2001, he graduated as an actor from the School for Performing Arts in Cologne and began working in film, television, and theater.
Throughout his career, Navid has performed in numerous German theaters, notably playing Lady Macbeth in William Shakespeare's 'Macbeth' and Romeo in 'Romeo and Juliet' at Hamburg's Altonaer Theater.
In 2003, he earned a nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Munich Film Festival for his first leading role in Elmar Fischer's "Fremder Freund". That same year, the film won the prestigious First Steps Award, the Digital Visions Award, and the Audience Award at the Filmz Mainz festival.
His notable leading roles include Mohsen in the German cultural comedy "Salami Aleikum," a hit in Germany and Austria. He also starred in the comedy "45 Minutes to Ramallah" and the drama "For a Moment Freedom," which secured 30 international festival awards and was Austria's submission for the 2009 Academy Awards.
In 2017, Navid appeared alongside Adrien Brody and Salma Hayek in the Hollywood film "Septembers of Shiraz," available on Netflix.
As a director, he has received multiple international awards for music videos such as "November's Fall" and "Habs," created for the legendary Iranian singer Ebi. His video "Behesht," directed for iconic Iranian singer Googoosh, attracted global attention as the first Iranian music video depicting a lesbian love story.
Navid is also a voice actor, having dubbed the lead role of Al in the CBS sitcom "United States of Al" for German audiences. In 2020, he narrated Dalia Sofer's novel "Man of My Time" for Audible.
In addition to acting and directing, Navid serves as a guest teacher and conducts workshops on directing actors and producing music videos at the SAE Film School in Berlin.
