J.J. Jamieson is a seasoned producer, writer, executive, show creator, and educator with extensive experience across multiple TV networks, studios, and independent productions. Renowned for his creativity and passion, he has created, developed, sold, produced, supervised, and written a wide range of television content including movies, series, limited series, mini-series, documentaries, specials, and reality shows for broadcast, basic cable, premium cable, and streaming platforms.
Most recently serving as Head of Scripted at Scripps National Networks, Jamieson managed all original scripted programming, primarily for Bounce TV and Ion. Despite limited budgets and minimal marketing, he led a series of successes. He originated and supervised Bounce’s highest-rated show to date—the multi-camera sitcom ACT YOUR AGE, which ranked as the third most-watched new comedy of 2022-2023. He also developed the popular single-camera dramedy JOHNSON, the critically acclaimed and demo-expanding FINDING HAPPY, and the upcoming sitcom MIND YOUR BUSINESS. Jamieson authored two Bounce TV movies, WILL YOU MARRY ME? and GREYSON FAMILY CHRISTMAS—the latter being the network’s top-rated TV movie and one of 2019’s top three holiday films out of 151 entries. He further developed, greenlit, and oversaw three additional successful telefilms for Bounce, spanning drama, thriller, and gang comedy genres, each achieving higher ratings than the last. For Ion, he created a holiday MFT franchise titled "Ion this Christmas: it’s the most wonderful crime of the year!" which became major rating successes, ranking second only to Hallmark among 52 networks, and the most profitable programs in Ion’s history, including the multi-award-winning THE CHRISTMAS THIEF. He also created THE CHRISTMAS AWARDS, an unscripted special set to air in Q4 2024.
Throughout his career, Jamieson has held roles as an executive, writer, and producer. As an executive, he led a joint venture between Lionsgate and Mexican media giant Televisa, and managed PODs at Warner Bros., Hamden, Fremantle, and Fox TV Studios. Under these companies and his own Triple J Media, he developed, sold, and often created scripted series projects for cable and broadcast. As a writer-producer, he created, executive produced, wrote, co-wrote, and rewrote MFTs for CBS, TBS, Lifetime, and Hallmark—including one of Hallmark’s five highest-rated movies ever—an unscripted reality series for MTV, a talk show pilot for TBS, and a two-hour documentary special for Turner. Additionally, Jamieson has written and sold alternative program decks, a hybrid pilot for NatGeo, travel and entertainment magazine articles, essays about raising triplets, and even an original song with music and lyrics for a movie he produced.
Jamieson began his career at NBC as a Page, earning assignments in News, Late Night, and Specials before joining the Movie & Miniseries Department. Selected for NBC’s prestigious management training program, he quickly advanced to a creative executive role, overseeing numerous successful projects across diverse genres.
Beyond his industry work, Jamieson has taught full courses in Screenwriting, Creative Producing, and Visual Storytelling as an adjunct professor at Columbia College and Chapman University’s renowned film school. He has delivered popular lectures such as "The Ten Commandments of Pitching" and "TV Overview...with Props" at over a dozen colleges and universities, as well as at symposiums in four countries. A native of Princeton, NJ, Jamieson graduated with Honors from Dartmouth College, receiving a Citation for Excellence in English. He attended the Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, NJ, and studied A Levels at Marlborough College in Wiltshire, UK, through the English-Speaking Union Exchange Program as a Sir John Dill Fellow. He currently resides in Santa Monica, CA with his wife, TV producer and executive Tana Nugent Jamieson.
