Raised in Philadelphia, known as the "City of Brotherly Love," Julie Chapin displayed a talent for captivating audiences from a young age. As a child, she staged plays for friends and neighbors, and by age 12, she combined her entrepreneurial spirit with creativity by producing puppet shows and booking herself for children's birthday parties. By 16, Chapin was performing in the Catskills, and it was clear to those around her that Hollywood awaited.
Her parents, however, were less enthusiastic. They encouraged her to pursue a conventional career—a "real job"—which she did, but not before taking an acting class at Vassar College taught by the iconic Jean Arthur, an unforgettable experience that greatly influenced her future.
For the next three decades, Chapin practiced as a corporate attorney. She married, raised four children, and sent them off to college. After retiring from corporate life, she transitioned to the nonprofit sector, working with an organization assisting children in foster care. Though fulfilling, she began contemplating her next chapter, reminiscing about her acting lessons with Jean Arthur.
Returning to the entertainment world with renewed passion, Julie quickly amassed over 60 credits in just three years, spanning stage productions such as The Vagina Monologues and Cupcake Cabaret; films including The Touchstone, See All the People, and acclaimed movies like Soulmate, Smiley Face Killers, and Smoking Section; television appearances in I'll Kill for You, Monsters Inside Me, Celebrity Ghost Stories; and commercials for brands like HP, Kodak, and Walmart.
More recently, in addition to her roles as producer and host for PetsCentral Media (LA/Hong Kong) and Princeton Public Access TV, Julie has been filming in Hollywood portraying the warm, down-to-earth widow Fannie Goldstein in the family adventure Ghost Goggles, and the strong, sophisticated widow Alexandra Levy in the new epic series Sangre Negra.
It has been over 30 years since Julie Chapin was advised to "get a real job." Today, as a mother, wife, and retiree, she proves that the entertainment industry was always her true calling.
