Frank Matson, a multiple Emmy® Award-winning Executive Producer, is the Founder and CEO of Denver-based Citizen Pictures, a full-service production company dedicated to creating, developing, packaging, and producing meaningful, inspiring content that pushes creative boundaries.
Founded by Matson in 1984, Citizen Pictures started as a small branded programming firm and has evolved into a multi-award-winning television production and content hub. The company specializes in lifestyle-focused programming that highlights talent-driven, high-profile storytelling.
As one of America's most prolific production companies, Citizen Pictures has produced thousands of hours of groundbreaking television for networks such as Food Network, Discovery, HGTV, Travel Channel, Bravo, and more. Notable projects include the Emmy Award-winning Giada at Home and the cultural phenomenon Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Food Network’s top-rated show for nearly a decade, with over two dozen seasons.
Under Matson’s visionary leadership, Citizen expanded from a TV-specific production house to a full-scale content creation company with a flourishing branded entertainment division. Prominent clients include Toyota, AT&T, Target, Kellogg's, Comcast, Carnival Cruise Lines, and Vail Resorts.
Housed in a converted 1940s shoe warehouse, Citizen’s Denver office serves as a creative hub for a diverse group of talented storytellers. The city of Denver provides an inspiring backdrop for brainstorming and development. Covering genres from food, travel, and home to sports, true crime, and competition formats, Citizen creates engaging content they are passionate about watching. This is achieved through collaboration with leading networks, streamers, digital platforms, and talent.
At Citizen, quality always takes precedence over quantity, and shortcuts are never an option. The company believes in the power of media to shift perspectives, drive brands, and leave lasting impressions.
