Cate Jones is an acclaimed American multimedia artist who has been professionally active across the United States since 2014.
Raised in Lawton, Oklahoma—a city known for its high crime rate and an Army base—she is the youngest of five children born to a night shift nurse and a Vietnam veteran turned computer teacher. As a child, she wrote and performed skits for her family, was an avid artist, created magazines, participated in choir and drama, and was largely raised by her sister and television, particularly Turner Classic Movies, the works of Elia Kazan, and films starring Doris Day, Rock Hudson, and Paul Newman. She initially studied criminal justice at the University of Central Oklahoma before leaving to join the U.S. Air Force. After six years of enlistment, she worked as a civilian IT specialist at Lockheed Martin. In 2014, she signed with a commercial talent agent and began acting on camera, appearing in over 50 films since then. During her first year in the industry, she used her GI Bill to study film at various universities to improve her acting skills. However, in 2019, driven by frustrations, she started writing and directing her own ultra-low-budget indie features. Her debut film, "She's the Eldest," won Best Feature at NewFilmmakers LA and was featured in Variety Magazine; it was acquired by Glass House Distribution. Her second feature, "Chicken House," received Audience Awards at the deadCenter Film Festival and Sacramento Midnight Film Festival, as well as Best Feature at the Philly Unnamed Film Festival. In 2023, she founded the indie rock band Lover Girl.
