Ron Bowman has been creating documentaries and non-fiction television series for more than 2 decades. He began his journey in documentary, as a long-form producer at ABCNews in Washington DC on the Peabody Award winning feature doc, Two Hours That Changed the World, a unique collaboration between NHK Japanese TV and ABCNew about the attack on Pearl Harbor that launched American participation into WW2, hosted by David Brinkley. Within a couple years, Ron Bowman had transitioned to producing at National Geographic Television in Washington DC, showcasing the wonders of nature, science, and the environment. There, he brought to life breathtaking landscapes, rare wildlife encounters, scientific breakthroughs, and awe-inspiring adventure that transported audiences to the farthest corners of the Earth. He went on to direct and write National Geographic TV’s first feature doc on climate change, Six Degrees Could Change The World, narrated by Alec Baldwin as well as the prime time special SKIN, honored with 3 Emmy nominations in a single year. Bowman's documentaries not only informed but sparked a deep sense of concern to protect the planet we call home. His films and TV specials have been awarded 8 Emmy nominations, the George Foster Peabody Award, the Jackson Wild Media Award, and the WorldFest Houston Award. His work includes many of documentary’s most acclaimed productions: Your Body On Drugs for Discovery Channel tapped the comic genius of Robin Williams to explore the science of addiction; scores of National Geographic specials such as The Shape of Life, an 8-part series that features cutting-edge cinematography to bring to life the evolution of the animal kingdom; Strange Days on Planet Earth, an environmental-investigative series hosted by actor Edward Norton; Moment of Impact for PBS, showcased the work of some of the world’s preeminent wildlife cinematographers, and Arson: Clues in the Ashes, forensic investigation for Discovery Channel , narrated by actor Andre Braugher. In recent years, Ron has acted as executive producer and show runner on a variety of reality television series, including My 600lb Life for the TLC network, Ripley's Believe It of Not for Discovery Travel, and Monsters and Mysteries in America which he created and helmed for Destination America. Ron has collaborated with museums, showcasing the work of artists, and produced commercial and live event video for corporate clients.
