Emma Pyne was born in Belfast and raised in County Clare, in western Ireland. During school, she took part in musical productions and numerous comedy sketches. While attending art college, she was a member of a glam-rock cover band.
After finishing college, she relocated to London, where she became a performance artist in the 1990s club scene and made her screen debut in the British cult film 'Preaching to the Perverted.' She later appeared in the BBC fantasy drama 'Neverwhere.'
Emma has written two award-winning short films: she won BEST ACTRESS and BEST SCREENPLAY at the F.A.S.H Film Festival in Los Angeles for 'Burn Baby Burn,' directed by Stephen David Brooks (Fly Trap, Headz n Tailz). She was also nominated for BEST ACTRESS and BEST SCREENPLAY at LA's Picture's Up Film Festival for 'Cúl An Tí' (The Back Of The House), featuring Stella McCusker and Bosco Hogan, where she won BEST SCREENPLAY. The film was officially selected for 10 film festivals, including the Dublin Independent Film Festival, where Stuart Douglas won BEST DIRECTOR.
She portrays a jaded angel in the Amazon Prime feature film 'Angels On Tap,' acting alongside Marion Ross and Ed Azner.
Emma trained in London at The Actor's Temple and in Los Angeles at The Lee Strasberg Film and Theatre Institute. She holds a postgraduate diploma in Journalism and a BA in Fashion Design.
As a journalist, she has worked for SKY TV in the UK, BBC, ITV, and Channel 4, contributed to the UK's bestselling weekly LOOK magazine, and wrote her own column for London's GROVE magazine.
Emma began writing comedy in 2007 and joined the MySketch comedy collective, performing successfully at The Etcetera Theatre in London and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2007 and 2008. She performed stand-up comedy for over four years, appearing in cities including LA, New York, London, San Francisco, and Edinburgh.
She continues to develop her own film and television projects and has recently written a solo play.
Emma divides her time between London and Los Angeles.
