JoAnna Rhambo, a native of Los Angeles, was born to Ernest Rhambo, a Vietnam Veteran, and Cynthia Rhambo, a secondary school teacher. She began her acting journey in theater, believing it to be the ultimate training ground for actors. JoAnna appeared in numerous stage productions, including 'The Colored Museum,' 'Long Time Since Yesterday,' Don B. Welch's 'Fightclub,' and 'Chicago Club Rumboogie,' which received multiple NAACP Theater Awards.
Her first significant on-screen role came in 2007 on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live,' where she demonstrated her sketch comedy and improv talents. Since then, she has secured various television and film roles, most notably a recurring part on 'Grey's Anatomy' and starring opposite Jane Lynch in CBS's 'Angel from Hell.' Her film credits include 'Ride Along' (Universal Pictures), 'Takers' (Sony Screen Gems), 'THUMPER' (Parliament of Owls), and 'The Archer' (MarVista Entertainment).
In 2011, JoAnna founded her production company, Hazel Honey Films. Its debut film, 'SOLSTICE,' which she wrote, produced, and starred in, premiered at the 2013 Pan African Film Festival to a sold-out audience and was hailed as a "powerful must-see" movie.
Skilled in both dramatic and comedic roles, JoAnna Rhambo continues to flourish in her career, guided by her motto, "Save Room for Surprises," a philosophy she lives by every day.
