Daniel James Bristol is an actor who has swiftly established a distinguished reputation in the global acting community. Among his numerous prestigious honors is the internationally sought-after "Einstein" actor award, also known as The Talent Greencard, reserved for the top 1% of exceptional actors worldwide. He made his film debut as Samuel Wright in the acclaimed, three-time Academy Award-winning Steven Spielberg film The Uninvited (2009), directed by Charles Guard and Thomas Guard, starring Oscar nominee David Strathairn, three-time Primetime Emmy nominee Elizabeth Banks, and Emily Browning. He was nominated for Best Young Actor and won Best Monologue at the prestigious Joey Awards in Canada and Europe for his leading role in His First Time (2016). He featured in Zack Snyder’s noted blockbuster Sucker Punch (2011) alongside Oscar Isaac, Jon Hamm, Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudgens, and Emily Browning. He portrayed Doctor Reid in Joyce Kline’s Leo Award-winning film Cancelled Stamp (2022), which won the Canadian Screen Award-accredited VFF Audience Favourite Best Short Award and received a Leo Award nomination. His other film credits include Slap Shot 3: The Junior League (2008), Under the Apple Box (2012), which earned an Honourable Mention at the New Jersey International Film Festival, and Flash and Dash (2009).
In 2020, Daniel represented Canada at the World Monologue Games, placing 2nd out of 3,000 actors from 85 countries. Renowned actress Sohaila Kapur, sister of Shekhar Kapur (director of Elizabeth, 1998), who placed 3rd, wished him a brilliant career and introduced him to Shekhar. Emmy Award-winning actor Kim Estes selected Daniel for the Official 2022 Monologue Selection featured at his prestigious Los Angeles Film Festival.
Daniel has built a notable career in film and theatre, training at the competitive and prestigious national Studio 58 conservatory under Kathryn Shaw, a Canadian entertainment hall of famer. He starred in Canada's $2.5 million production Incognito Mode, produced by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada's iMPACTS, and led in CAEA’s The Birds and the Bees, which raised over $106,000 for children’s charities. He regularly collaborates with elite acting coaches such as Hollywood Academy Award coach Nadia Venesse—who has worked with Cate Blanchett, Viola Davis, and Jessica Chastain—and has been endorsed by David Lee Strasberg and Paul Weber, former Executive Head of Television Casting at MGM.
During his move to the U.S., Richard Feldman affirmed Daniel’s talent and facilitated his meeting with The Juilliard School faculty. Acting masters including Thurn Hoffman, Sandra Seacat’s husband, and Pamela Scott, Julia Garner’s mentor, have also recognized his exceptional abilities.

In 2016, Daniel was accepted into Studio 58, Canada’s premier three-year acting conservatory, selecting only 16 actors nationwide. Studio 58, founded in 1965 by Order of Canada recipient Antony Holland—one of the last WWII desert war veterans and former vice-principal of Bristol Old Vic Theatre School—has notable alumni including Christopher Heyerdahl, Jonathon Young, Jane Perry, Colin Mochrie, Robert Moloney, Garry Chalk, and Daniel Doheny. Daniel was chosen from hundreds of auditions across major Canadian cities in a highly competitive year.
At Studio 58, Daniel performed in six mainstage productions, including the world premiere of Amy Rutherford’s Carol Bolt Award-winning play Mortified (2018), directed by Siminovitch Prize winner Anita Rochon, and the award-winning Cabaret (2019), which won three Ovation Awards and is Studio 58’s highest-grossing production. His performances in Incognito Mode (2018) and Inhale (2019) were critically acclaimed. Stuart R. Poyntz, PhD, noted Daniel’s powerful contribution to addressing sexual violence through Incognito Mode, praising his compelling acting. Vancouver Presents’ Mark Robins highlighted Daniel’s heartfelt performance in Inhale.
Upon graduation, Artistic Director Kathryn Shaw praised Daniel as a dedicated, versatile, and passionate actor with an extraordinary ability to connect emotionally and portray diverse characters, highlighting his leading role in Inhale. While still at Studio 58, Daniel starred as Captain Coquitlam (2019) in a CBC Digital Shorts pilot directed by Arno Hazebroek and produced by William Nicholson’s team. After graduating in June 2019, he quickly secured the starring role of Ben in The Birds and the Bees (2020), a Canadian Actors' Equity Association production that toured nationally. Directed by Ted Price and co-starring Frances Flanagan, the production was extended twice due to popular demand and raised over $106,000 for children’s charities. Critics praised Daniel’s energetic and nuanced performance.
In 2020, Vancouver Presents featured Daniel in "Daniel Bristol versus the world," highlighting his achievement as the sole Canadian finalist in the professional category of the World Monologue Games. Performing a scene from David-Matthew Barnes’ Better Places to Go, Daniel earned second place globally and won Silver for Best Monologue. Sohaila Kapur, who placed third, wished him a successful career and introduced him to her brother, Shekhar Kapur.
That year, Daniel played Doctor Reid in Joyce Kline’s Cancelled Stamp (2022), which premiered at the Victoria Film Festival and won the Canadian Screen Award-accredited VFF Audience Favourite Best Short Award along with a Leo Award nomination. He was also invited to speak and adjudicate at a Spotlight Academy panel.
In 2021, Daniel worked in Los Angeles with David Lee Strasberg, son of Lee Strasberg, and trained with Game of Thrones dialect coach Sally Hague in Staffordshire, England. He also made a guest appearance at The Second City in Chicago.
In 2022, UBCP/ACTRA, alongside leading Canadian film and TV casting directors, recognized Daniel as a Top Young Emerging Actor and Best Actor Selection after rigorous evaluation by industry professionals. He earned the opportunity to consult with casting directors of his choice. Speaking to Hollywood North Magazine, Daniel expressed gratitude for the support from UBCP/ACTRA leadership and the Canadian film and TV community. Senior Editor Nick Mangersky noted Daniel’s promising career trajectory. Adjudicator Omari Newton praised Daniel’s craft, vulnerability, and authenticity. Acting coach Nadia Venesse endorsed his unique talent, vulnerability, and potential for Hollywood success.
That same year, Emmy Award-winning actor Kim Estes and other Hollywood professionals selected Daniel for a prestigious monologue showcase in Los Angeles. He was also contracted by a New York acting institution to join a panel of American experts adjudicating and mentoring marginalized and low-income actors worldwide, aiming to bridge socioeconomic disparities in acting education. The Artistic Director highlighted Daniel’s invaluable contribution to this mission.
In 2023, Daniel made his acting debut at the Academy Award-qualifying CIFF with Helen Liu’s High End Dying (2023), produced by Telefilm Canada and winner of First Prize for Best Film at the Vortex Film Festival. CIFF screened High End Dying alongside Mena Massoud's The Sacrifice Game (2023), both exploring themes of personal sacrifice. Daniel was also among a select group invited to train with the creative advisor and acting mentor for the Academy Award-winning film The Power of the Dog (2021).
In 2024, Daniel was one of four finalists called back by Richard Feldman in New York for Juilliard’s prestigious acting program, known for discovering talents like Jessica Chastain, Viola Davis, and Adam Driver. He won UBCP/ACTRA’s 2024 Best Actor Award for his portrayal of a soldier with PTSD grieving a fallen comrade and was recognized by the casting director of the three-time Academy Award-winning film The Revenant (2015), reaffirming his exceptional talent.
In 2025, Daniel received the internationally prestigious "Einstein" actor award, also called The Talent Greencard, reserved for the top 1% of extraordinary actors worldwide by the American government. Past recipients include Benedict Cumberbatch, Cate Blanchett, and Charlize Theron. During his transition to America, Richard Feldman of The Juilliard School reaffirmed his talent, and Sandra Seacat’s husband Thurn Hoffman, along with Julia Garner’s acting mentor Pamela Scott, acknowledged his exceptional ability.
