Robert Pierce graduated from the renowned Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theater in New York City, where he trained under the distinguished acting coach Sanford Meisner. During his time in New York, he made his professional acting debut as Lysander in Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream."
Originally from California, Robert returned to Los Angeles and quickly began landing leading and supporting roles in numerous movies-of-the-week and episodic television series. He was a series regular on ABC's Joanie Loves Chachi (1982), playing "Bingo," the drummer. He also had a recurring role as Dabney Coleman's quirky son-in-law on NBC's Madman of the People (1994). His film credits feature supporting and lead roles in The Aviator (1985), Alone Yet Not Alone (2013)—which received a brief Oscar nomination for "Best Original Song"—and Suburbicon (2017), directed by George Clooney and starring Matt Damon and Julianne Moore. Additionally, he has appeared in over 190 television commercials.
Robert's versatile acting skills have enabled him to portray a wide array of characters, ranging from intense drama to broad comedy. He is highly skilled in performing both foreign and domestic accents.
He graduated from Pacific Palisades High School in California and earned his degree with honors from the University of Tennessee, where he competed on a full, four-year tennis scholarship. Robert played professional tennis worldwide, facing top players such as Jimmy Connors, Harold Solomon, and Raul Ramirez. In senior tennis competition, he was ranked number one in Southern California and seventh in the United States.
His musical background includes four years of organ study and two years of vocal training in New York and Los Angeles. He is also proficient in piano.
Beyond tennis, his interests include reading, computing, free diving, fishing, and screenwriting. He co-wrote "The Climb," featuring Dabney Coleman, Jason George, and Ned Vaughn. After a limited theatrical release, the film aired nationally as a movie-of-the-week and won first prize for "Best Feature Drama" at the International Family Film Festival.
