Spotted by photographer Paolo Roversi while still a teenager, he began his modeling career.
In 2006, during the filming of a Coca-Cola commercial titled "The Chase" directed by Sébastien Chantrel, he first encountered the camera. After studying cinema, Paul Hamy co-founded the collective POK (PainOchoKolat) with friends, uniting visual artists, photographers, videographers, DJs, musicians, designers, dancers, singers, and comedians.
He later appeared on television in a Lacoste commercial, but his true ambition was to break into cinema. After a role in an episode of the TV series "Borgia," he gained recognition in 2013 with "Elle s'en va" by Emmanuelle Bercot, where he played Catherine Deneuve's one-night lover. That same year, he portrayed Julien, the lover of Sara Forestier’s character, in "Suzanne" by Katell Quillévéré, which opened the Critics' Week at Cannes and earned him a César nomination for Best Upcoming Actor. These two consecutive films, both landed through chance auditions, instantly introduced Paul Hamy to French cinema.
Gradually, the versatile actor gravitated towards more challenging films. Instinctive and feline, both gentle and unsettling, he quickly became a valuable presence in independent cinema. Curious and multifaceted, with an athletic build, tender eyes, and full lips, he may not be widely recognized by the general public but is a frequent screen presence noted for his ability to seamlessly transition between different worlds. His more popular recent films are earning him increasing acclaim.
Beyond cinema, he practices sculpture, coaches the youth team of the Pigalle/Paris district basketball club, and produces artists such as musician Oko Ebombo.
