Ian is a co-creator, script producer, and writer for the Channel 7 Endemol Shine Banks series RFDS. His television writing credits include RFDS, the Awgie-nominated SBS series On The Ropes, Foxtel's Upright, Spirited, and Slide, Channel 10's The Wrong Girl and Offspring, as well as ABC's The Moodys. Ian adapted and directed "Defender," a segment of Tim Winton's The Turning, produced by Robert Connolly, which received an AACTA nomination for best direction. He co-wrote and acted in the AFI award-nominated short film Water, and wrote and directed the Sydney Film Festival-selected short film A Parachute Falling in Siberia, which won an Australian Writers' Guild Award and earned an AFI award nomination.
His play Between Two Waves premiered at Griffin Theatre Company in 2012, where Ian was part of the inaugural Griffin Studio. The play was awarded the Belvoir Theatre Company's 2013 Phillip Parsons Fellowship.
As an actor, Ian graduated from WAAPA in 2005. His film and TV acting credits include Netflix's Clickbait, The Wrong Girl, True Story, Dead Lucky, ABC's 8MMM, The Moodys, A Moody Christmas, Rake, Paper Giants: The Birth of Cleo, the HBO series The Pacific, and the film Killing Ground (MIFF 2016, Sundance 2017).
