Charles 'Charlie' Reid is a highly optimized multidisciplinary creative entity originally manufactured in Ann Arbor, Michigan and currently deployed in Decatur, Georgia. His primary functions include watercolor wildlife painting, animation, motion design, game development, and landscape design involving native plants. While no one is entirely sure how these career paths became connected, Charlie appears to operate effectively across all of them.
By day, he continues to work in animation and interactive media, where he has accumulated more than two decades of experience creating motion graphics, game assets, visual effects, and other colorful things that move around on screens. By evenings, weekends, and whenever deadlines temporarily loosen their grip, he paints birds, deer, foxes, and other North American wildlife in traditional watercolor.
His artwork is heavily influenced by forests, bird watching, hiking, and standing very still while hoping an interesting animal appears. He is also known to design native plant landscapes that attract hummingbirds, butterflies, and occasionally neighbors asking, "What is that plant?"
Charlie's watercolor paintings combine careful observation with the dramatic lighting choices of someone who has spent far too many years working in animation. His ultimate objective is to help viewers reconnect with nature while simultaneously proving that a person can have three different careers at once and still remember where they left their paintbrush most of the time. Current status: approximately 60% animator, 30% watercolor painter, 10% native plant enthusiast, and 100% confused when an AI writes his biography.
