Esther Friedman is a New York-based actor, writer, and producer whose work spans television, film, theater, and solo performance. Raised in the Bronx, she draws on her multicultural Black and Jewish upbringing to create stories that blend humor, heart, and resilience.
Recent credits include the Apple TV+ series The Off Years opposite Ben Stiller, the feature film Grassland, the independent comedy Hillary on Prime Video, and Norbit opposite Eddie Murphy. Her theater work includes the lead role in The Governor of Jericho at the Castillo Theatre, the Negro Ensemble Company's WE Series and Colored People's Time, and most recently Liza in Pass the Matzo, a new play by Rain Pryor.
Esther created and performed the solo show How I Got the Past Out of My Ass (formerly Random Sharp Objects), a coming-of-age story inspired by her experiences growing up in a multicultural family in New York City. She also co-created and performed in the web series Me Myself and Us TV, which was featured on Funny or Die and recognized as a finalist in the Independent Television Festival and a runner-up for the Emmy Broadband and Fox Storyteller Awards.
Esther is the author of How to Produce and Promote a One Person Show, a practical guide for actors developing original solo work.
As a writer and performer, Esther is drawn to stories that explore human nature, identity, spirituality, healing, and transformation. Whether on stage, on screen, or through her creative projects, she seeks to create experiences that encourage self-discovery, connection, and personal growth.
