Francis Cruz was born on November 29, 1967, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He began his career in the performing arts under the guidance of Germana Quintana in 1994, working as Assistant Director and Lighting Technician for the Theatre Company Club Arroyo's production of "Educando a un Sinvergüenza."
In 1995, Quintana gave him his first acting role in "Monja o Detective." Since then, he has performed in 21 plays including "Visiting Mr. Green" and "Toc - Toc," appeared in 20 feature films such as "Biodegradable," "No Hay Más Remedio," "La Gunguna," "Flor de Azúcar," and "Y a Dios que me Perdone!," as well as 4 short films, 3 mini TV series, one internet short, 3 industrial shorts, a radio voice commercial, and 5 TV commercials.
Francis has received training in acting techniques, stage presence, creativity, voice management, voice-over dubbing, singing, character development, and more.
He studied "Technical Meisner / Mamet for Directors and Actors" in Cuba at the International School of Film and Television of San Antonio de los Baños, with instructors Stephen Bayle (Actor's Temple, England) and Mary Gowland (Argentina).
In 2013, he founded "Hutia Productions." His first theatrical production, the internationally acclaimed "Visiting Mr. Green," in which he also starred alongside Iván García, earned three nominations at the Dominican Republic's Soberano Awards.
Francis Cruz has worked with directors such as Angel Muniz, Otto W. Retzer (Austria), Juan Basanta, Luisito Martí, Archie López, Alfonso Rodriguez, Javier Balaguer (Spain), Cesar Rodriguez, Neri Parentis (Italy), Fernando Báez Mella, Jose Enrique Pintor, Vicenzo Marano (France and Italy), Ronnie Oscar Castillo, Ernesto Alemany, among others.
