Lisa Schinelli Caserta was born on September 4, 1959, in Hartford, Connecticut, to Italian parents William W. Schinelli, a bookmaker and loan shark associated with organized crime, and Louise Dagostino Schinelli, who owned The Doll Factory, a costume store. Her mother was a costume expert who worked with many actors in theater, film, and television, and Lisa learned the business from her. In 1986, Lisa married Theodore Masuk Caserta, a PhD graduate from NYU film school. They moved to Beverly Hills, California, where she began working at Disney. In 1994, while filming in Moscow, Russia, Theodore died in a tragic accident. They had a son, Nathaniel Caserta, who became an established music producer.
In 2000, Lisa opened a classic car dealership in Culver City, selling and renting classic cars to the entertainment industry. In 2005, she met Henry Hill, an American mobster associated with the Lucchese crime family. Henry Hill’s life inspired Martin Scorsese’s film "Goodfellas," based on Nicholas Pileggi’s book "Wiseguy." Lisa and Henry became engaged and married, living together in Topanga Canyon until Henry’s death in 2012.
Following this, Lisa became a mob historian, working on mob-related films and documentaries and collaborating with many real-life mobsters and law enforcement officials. In 2011, she helped launch The Mob Museum in Las Vegas alongside Frank Cullotta, a technical adviser for the film "Casino." Lisa maintains strong ties to her community and is actively involved in charitable work.
