Bentley Kalu was born in Britain and raised in North America, where he studied Theatre Arts and pursued a career as an on-screen actor, theatre performer, and voice-over artist.
He is trained in theatre, stage combat, and fight choreography, and is also an accomplished singer.
Upon returning to the UK, he has lent his voice to portray several real-life figures in radio and television productions, including poets Claude McKay and Langston Hughes, jazz musician Miles Davis, and former politician Colin Powell.
His theatre credits include roles such as an African Warlord in "Bethlehem Lights" and the lively, charismatic Genie in the musical production of "Aladdin."
Bentley possesses a natural, smooth, deep basso voice and can perform a wide range of accents, including Standard American, various regional American dialects, African, West Indian, Jamaican, and British accents. He also excels in character voices, ranging from elderly and raspy to high-pitched animation voices, as well as urban ghetto (featured in "World Series Of Dating"), middle-class American, and Welsh Patois.
He gained recognition through appearances in "Doctor Who" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron." In 2019, he began filming the first season of the highly anticipated Showtime series "HALO," in which he was cast as a series regular.
