Sandra De Sousa's striking multi-ethnic appearance (Portuguese heritage) and remarkable talent have propelled her to emerging stardom.
Born in London to Portuguese parents, she discovered her passion for acting at the age of five. After starring in numerous school plays and musicals and studying painting at the Slade School of Fine Art (UCL), she began performing professionally at the Bloomsbury Theatre, with leading roles in productions like 'Yerma' and 'Caligula'. While playing Salome in 'Salome' at the Edinburgh Fringe, she secured the lead role of Charlotte in her debut feature film, 'The Prodigal'. She trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama, the Poor School, and Actors Temple. In 2003, she was the British finalist in the 'International Stopping Power' competition, earning the opportunity to train with the renowned Los Angeles-based acting coach Bernard Hiller. This connection was pivotal, leading her to organize his Masterclasses in London and maintain ongoing collaborations with him in Los Angeles.
Sandra has an extensive theatre background, performing both leading and supporting roles in acclaimed productions such as 'Yerma', 'Salome', and 'Caligula' at the Bloomsbury Theatre, 'Bound Man' at the Battersea Arts Centre, 'The Hothouse', and 'Be My Baby'. She has also portrayed classical characters like Isabella in 'Measure for Measure' and Yeliena in 'Uncle Vanya' at the Workhouse Theatre. More recently, she starred as Rosie in the premiere of 'Porn Crackers', alongside Charley Speed (judge on Britain’s Top Model), directed by notable producer/director Ruth Boswell and written by Jan Woolf, recipient of the Harold Pinter residency at Hackney Empire, London. After a lead role in the film 'Love on the High Side', which won the audience award at the Cannes 24 Hour Film Festival, she secured a featured role as Ashlee Wilcox, a tough drug addict, on ITV1’s hit series Bad Girls, followed by the role of the seductive Spanish con artist Dr. Christina Lopez Rey on BBC1’s popular daytime drama Doctors.
She is a permanent, key member of the Pink Elephants theatre company, an exclusive group of professional actors worldwide.
Known for her meticulous and passionate approach to her craft and boasting a growing international fan base, Sandra is undoubtedly a talent to watch.
In 2007, she completed the US feature film The Gift/Echelon Conspiracy as the second female lead, portraying a female casino technician alongside Edward Burns and Ving Rhames.
In 2009, she was rehearsing two plays, developing a UK feature film, and engaged in pre-production for an upcoming UK vampire feature.
In 2011, she was involved in the pre-production of the US feature Femena, directed by Matt Cimber and starring Sonia Braga and Paulie Rojas.
