Before beginning his career in entertainment as a stuntman and fight/stunt coordinator, Ron Balicki grew up in Chicago. With over 35 years of martial arts training, Ron pursued extensive study before seeking out the legendary Dan Inosanto. After years of dedication, he earned full instructorships in Bruce Lee's Jun Fan Gung Fu (Jeet Kune Do Concepts), Maphilindo Silat, and Filipino Kali under Sifu Dan Inosanto. In 1987, Ron became a Cook County Deputy Sheriff in Chicago and helped establish the Cook County Sheriff's Special Operations Resistance Team (S.O.R.T.), specializing in riot control. During this period, he also worked as a bodyguard for various Hollywood movie and music stars. Ron has traveled to Japan and Indonesia to train and compete in no-holds-barred fighting tournaments. As a professional Shoot Wrestler, he has competed extensively in both Japan and the United States. Additionally, Ron earned instructorships in Thai Boxing, Savate, Lameco Escrima, Wing Chun Gung Fu, Latigo y Daga (whip fighting), and Shoot Wrestling.
Military personnel, DEA, SWAT, FBI, Homeland Security, law enforcement agencies worldwide, anti-terrorist groups, and even the French President's Secret Service have sought Ron for his expertise and teaching abilities. He has authored numerous articles for global magazines and written a bestselling book on Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do. Ron has also produced a respected series of martial arts training videos and stunt coordinated several films.
Ron performs stunts including fight sequences, car crashes, ratchets, air rams, high falls, and full-body burns.
Together with his wife Diana Lee Inosanto and their manager Tarik Heitmann, Ron founded their production company, Zen Mountain LLC. Their first film, "The Sensei," has completed post-production.
