Bruce began his career under the guidance of legendary Louis Malle, refining his skills on films like "Atlantic City" and "My Dinner with André," contributing to production before advancing to editor roles on "Alamo Bay" and the acclaimed documentary "God's Country."
His directing work includes a wide array of independent features such as the provocative "Headless Body in Topless Bar," the drama "Den of Lions," and the socially conscious "Anatomy of a Shooter," adapted from Walter Dean Myers' novel "Shooter." His dedication to documentary filmmaking is reflected in projects like "Our Food Chain," "Listen to The Forest," and "Indivisible: Healing Hate," which explore urgent global and political themes.
As a producer, his noteworthy project "Oka!"—shot in the Central African Republic and premiered at the Telluride Film Festival—demonstrates his skill in managing complex productions in challenging settings, highlighting his commitment to storytelling that connects diverse cultures and viewpoints.
In television, Bruce’s directing has earned an Emmy nomination for "Survivor" and two Emmy nominations for "Apprentice," alongside work on "Highlander," "America's Most Wanted," "The Adventures of Robin Hood," and "Army Wives," showcasing his adaptability across various genres.
As a showrunner, he led multiple non-scripted series, notably NBC’s "The Restaurant," a groundbreaking culinary soap drama. He was instrumental in launching the "Below Deck" franchise and contributed to the success of "Restaurant Startup" and "How to Make a Millionaire" for MSNBC.
From 2018 to 2023, Bruce served as EVP of Production at XG Productions, overseeing the 2021 reboot of "America's Most Wanted" for FOX and directing the impactful six-part documentary series "Indivisible: Healing Hate" for Paramount Plus in 2022. His leadership and innovative vision during this period reinforced his status as a forward-thinking entertainment executive.
In April 2024, Bruce and two partners co-founded Big Love Studios, a hybrid tech, entertainment, and media company.
