Biographie
Shortly after graduating from the Staatliche Schauspielschule in Rostock, Jörg began his career with engagements at the theaters in Stralsund and Rostock. Between 1978 and 1980, he was part of the Theater der jungen Generation in Dresden, performing in productions such as 'Minna von Barnhelm', 'Armer Ritter', 'Was ihr wollt', 'Die Schneekönigin', and 'Der kaukasische Kreidekreis'. In 1981, he moved to Greifswald, where he appeared in 'Lysistrate', 'Feuerrote Blume', 'Die Preussen kommen', and 'Egmont'.
Jörg Kleinau was extensively involved with DEFA, featuring in TV classics like 'Front ohne Gnade', 'Die Leute von Zünderow', and 'Zahn um Zahn', as well as adventure films like 'Der Bärenhäuter', mystery dramas such as 'Die Spur des Bernsteinzimmers', and literary adaptations including 'Sachsens Glanz und Preussens Gloria'.
Following German reunification, Jörg acted in numerous TV series including 'Schwarz Rot Gold', 'Im Namen des Gesetzes', 'Doppelter Einsatz', 'Von Fall zu Fall', 'Alphateam', 'Hallo Onkel Doc', 'Die Trotzkis', 'Marienhof', and 'Für alle Fälle Stefanie'. He has continued to perform on stage, notably as the Master of Ceremonies in the 1993 Globe-Theatre Berlin production of 'Hamlet'. He directed 'Der kleine Prinz' (1997) and 'Wilhelm Busch' (1998) for Theater 2000. In 2002, he appeared alongside Anita Kupsch and Klaus Mikoleit in 'Keine Leiche ohne Lily', played Artos in 'Die drei Musketiere' in 2006, and toured as Miss Sophie in 'Dinner for One' from 2006 to 2008.
