Biographie
Gui Agustini is a Brazilian-born actor and filmmaker based in New York and Los Angeles, fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and English. In 2021, he secured his first series regular role on HBO's straight-to-series show, The Time Traveler's Wife. His acting credits include the successful A&E series The Glades, the popular Nickelodeon Spanish TV shows Grachi 2 and 11-11 En mi Cuadra Nada Cuadra, Gloria Estefan's music video Hotel Nacional directed by Kenny Ortega, and numerous commercials. In March 2020, before the pandemic, Gui appeared on Brazilian big screens in the romcom Solteira Quase Surtando (Single, Almost Going Crazy). In January 2021, he portrayed FBI agent Barry in the Brazilian drama O Faixa Preta (The Black Belt), based on the true story of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu legend Fernando Terere.
As a director and producer, Gui has created the award-winning short film Roses Are Blind, which has earned over 50 awards; Coming To Terms, featured at the 2018 Cannes Film Corner; Momentary Life, which reached the second round of Project Greenlight; as well as iara and Southern Hospitality. In March 2021, he directed his first Brazilian short film, Escadaria do Amor (Stairs of Love).
Born Guilherme Andre Ochoa Agustini on September 5 in Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil, Gui was raised there. His father, Juan M Ochoa Tejeda, a Peruvian plastic surgeon, and his Argentinian mother, Cristina B Agustini, influenced his multicultural background. Growing up, Gui participated in various sports but focused on tennis from age 13. He competed on Brazil’s junior national circuit, ranking #80 nationally, and played on the international ITF tour. After competing professionally for a few years, he moved to Venezuela to train under master coach Harold Castillo, where he became fluent in Spanish and began modeling, which led to his first acting opportunities.
Seeking acting training, Gui studied with Matilda Corral at Gimnasio de Actores and Nelson Ortega at Teatro Luz Columba, two of Venezuela’s most respected teachers and schools. Awarded a tennis scholarship, he moved to the U.S. to attend Lander University in South Carolina, where he began formal acting studies with Monique Sacay-Bagwell. He was cast as Hal in Picnic, earning a nomination for the Irene Ryan Award.
After a year, Gui relocated to Miami to deepen his acting skills in both English and Spanish, training with director Ralph Kinnard, Mexican star Sebastian Ligarde, and attending workshops with renowned coaches like Aaron Speiser, Will Wallace, and Tom Todoroff. He debuted on television in the Telemundo soap opera Alguien Te Mira, appeared in several commercials, and acted in two more Telemundo soaps before landing a recurring role in the hit Nickelodeon Spanish series Grachi 2. He then appeared in his first American TV show, A&E’s The Glades, as a marine biologist. Soon after, Gui secured a major role as Carmelo in the Nickelodeon Spanish series 11-11 En mi Cuadra Nada Cuadra, portraying a homeless boy transformed into a wealthy youth by a magical bed. He also hosted the online Spanish show La Neta de Los Sexos by NuevOn and appeared in numerous regional commercials.
Gui later moved to New York City to concentrate on the American market, enrolling in the Tom Todoroff Acting Conservatory, where he trained with notable actors including Daniel Davis, Boyd Gaines, Austin Pendleton, and Stephen McKinley Henderson. He also joined Anthony Meindl's Actor Workshop NYC (AMAW), known for training stars such as Shailene Woodley, Ruby Rose, and Camila Cabello.
He continues to develop his craft through ongoing training, working in theater, television, and film, while passionately creating his own projects as a dedicated filmmaker and storyteller.
