Biographie
Tanya Selvaratnam is an artist, writer, and Emmy-nominated, Webby-winning producer. She authored Assume Nothing: A Story of Intimate Violence (Harper, 2021), currently in development with ABC Signature/Disney Television, executive produced by Joanna Coles. She also wrote The Big Lie: Motherhood, Feminism, and the Reality of the Biological Clock. Her work has appeared in the New York Times, Glamour, Vogue, CNN, and McSweeney's. Her films have aired on HBO, IFC, PBS, STARZ, and the Sundance Channel, screened at festivals including Sundance, SXSW, Tribeca, and Berlin, and been shown theatrically worldwide, including four features at New York's Film Forum. She has produced for Planned Parenthood, Glamour Women of the Year, Joy To The Polls, For Freedoms, The Shed, Aubin Pictures, The Vision & Justice Project, Carrie Mae Weems, and Mickalene Thomas. Additionally, she has collaborated with the Ms. Foundation, NGO Forum on Women, Third Wave Fund, and World Health Organization. Alongside Laurie Anderson and Laura Michalchyshyn, she co-founded The Federation, a coalition of artists, organizations, and allies dedicated to keeping cultural borders open and demonstrating how art unites us.
