Biographie
Firas Sameer is an Iraqi award-winning film director and post-production artist. He is best known for his feature film on the Iraqi National Symphony Orchestra (2012), and his work in I don't Know (2019), short film and Kingdom of Sher (2021), short video.
He grew up in Baghdad, Iraq, and graduated from the University of Technology in Computer and Control Engineering in 2002, but that did not prevent him from his filmmaking and artistic passion.
In 2006, and according to the dangerous situation in Iraq at that time, he flew to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where he has lived since then, and eventually, he founded his video production company Babylon Gate Films LLC [ae] a leading production house based in Dubai.
His first feature movie was Iraqi National Symphony Orchestra (2012), a feature documentary that gained a lot of appraisals from the audience in the festivals it had participated in; it was also awarded several awards like "The Silver Award" (2012) from the California Film Awards, "Rising Star Award" (2013) from the Canada International Film Festival, "Jury Award" (2013) from Baghdad International Film Festival, and "Award of Merit" (2018) from Impact Docs Awards.
His first short film was Masquerade (2017) which screened at more than 20 film festivals and it won many awards ranging from Best Director, Best Editing, Best Actor, Best Short Film, and Best Silent Film from different international festivals.
Sameer has over a decade's experience in the film and entertainment industry and has gained recognition for his directing, editing, and post-production services for numerous media projects ranging from films, tv ads, music video clips, corporate videos, and others.
