Biographie
Rafa Casette is a Spanish actor based in Madrid, born on August 20, 1965, in Zaragoza, Aragón. As the eldest of eight siblings, two of whom are also actors, he relocated to Madrid due to his father's job, where he grew up and pursued his education. After completing high school, he initially aimed to become a lawyer and enrolled at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. During this time, he sang as a hobby in various amateur choirs of increasing quality, performing internationally in countries such as France, Italy, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Switzerland, and Poland. Financial difficulties led him to abandon his law studies, and over the years, he has worked in diverse roles including burger cook, insurance salesman, internet webmaster, telemarketer, electronic music composer, CGI designer, and comics illustrator.
Rafa made his acting debut in 1995 when he stepped in for a choir member at the Teatro Calderón de Madrid with director José Luis Moreno’s company. He initially performed as a chorus singer and supporting actor in zarzuela (Spanish light opera) productions, gradually taking on more significant roles thanks to the support of director José Tamayo and his renowned international show Antología de la Zarzuela, as well as other Spanish zarzuela directors. He furthered his acting training at the Conservatorio Municipal de Arganda del Rey, Escuela de Teatro Musical Memory Madrid, and Escuela de Actores AZarte.
Following his role in the 2009 production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, the musical thriller by Stephen Sondheim at Teatro Español de Madrid, Rafa embarked on a continuous audiovisual career. His work spans a wide range of short films, TV series, international commercials, radio acting and hosting, and includes his first lead role in the upcoming film La mujer que hablaba con los muertos (The Woman Who Talked to the Dead), directed by César del Álamo.
