Biographie
Marta was born in Rome. She studied at the National Academy of Dance in Rome and graduated as an actor from the CSC National School of Cinema in Rome. She began acting at the age of 4, making her first appearance alongside Domenico Modugno in the TV movie "Il maestro di violino." At 5, she performed with Paola Borboni and Anna Proclemer in "George Sand," a TV drama directed by Giorgio Albertazzi. She also appeared in "Casa Cecilia," the first popular Italian sitcom featuring Delia Scala, as well as in the TV drama "Martin Eden" by Giacomo Battiato and in "Giallo Sera" with Renzo Palmer.
At 8, Marta made her cinema debut thanks to Francesco Rosi, who cast her in a leading role in his film "Tre fratelli" (Three Brothers), alongside an impressive cast including Vittorio Mezzogiorno, Philippe Noiret, Michele Placido, and Charles Vanel. With her role in "Three Brothers," Marta was the youngest actress at the Cannes Film Festival in May 1981. The film was also nominated for an Oscar in 1982.
She was directed by Steno in "Quando la coppia scoppia" with Enrico Montesano and portrayed young Fanny Ardant in Anna Maria Tatò's film "Desiderio." Marta twice played Mario Merola's daughter in the well-known films "Carcerato" and "Tradimento" by Alfonso Brescia. In 1985, she acted alongside Tom Conti and Giancarlo Giannini in the American movie "Saving Grace," directed by Robert Young. She also played Basemah in "Solomon," a Bible TV movie.
In 1998, she appeared in "Bonanno - A Godfather's Story" with Costas Mandylor. Following her role as the humorous Denise in the popular TV series "Un medico in famiglia," producers cast her in a leading role in one of Italy's most popular TV series, "I Cesaroni." Marta had three cameos in Fausto Brizzi's films "Ex," "Maschi vs Femmine," and "Femmine vs Maschi."
In the summer of 2011, Woody Allen wrote a role specifically for her in "To Rome with Love," co-starring Roberto Benigni. She played leading roles in the acclaimed TV series "Squadra Antimafia" and "Squadra Mobile" in 2014 and 2015. In 2017, she was one of the leads in "The Divine Order" by Petra Volpe, which won at the Tribeca Film Festival, was Oscar-nominated, and distributed worldwide. In this film, Marta speaks fluent German.
In 2018, she had a leading role in "Il destino degli uomini" by Leonardo Tiberi. In 2019, she starred in "Il cacio con le pere," the first film directed by Luca Calvani. In 2021, Marta was cast in the TV series "PRISMA," directed by Ludovico Bessegato and produced by Amazon Studios and Cross Productions.
