Biographie
Josh was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. His father, Gordon, hailed from Biggar, SK, and worked as a Bio Med Technician, while his mother, Judy, was born and raised in Montreal and works as a secretary.
At twelve, Josh moved to Spruce Grove, Alberta, where he attended high school. Transitioning from a Christian elementary school to a public junior high was challenging. He participated in sports like football and basketball but soon discovered his passion for hockey.
He took acting classes with Elizabeth Ebbels, who initially felt sympathy for him and later became his first agent. Josh wasn’t popular in high school; he was overweight and not considered particularly attractive. In his senior year, he decided to make a significant change, starting to work out at a local gym for 2-3 hours daily. This transformation led him to associate with the wrong crowd on several occasions. After experiencing enough and growing tired of that lifestyle, he chose to refocus on acting.
Josh enrolled in Red Deer College’s Motion Picture Arts Bachelor Program, graduating with a 3.67 GPA. A highlight was meeting his primary instructor and mentor, Larry Reese, known for roles in Unforgiven, Brokeback Mountain, and other films.
Larry Reese took Josh as his personal reader during auditions. Following Reese’s advice, Josh moved to Vancouver two and a half weeks later and signed with Debbie Mahood at Lukas Talent, one of Canada’s top agencies. Debbie quickly secured him roles on major Canadian TV shows and several American films. U.S. audiences first saw him in Lifetime movies and the CW series Aliens In America.
Josh’s breakthrough came with his roles as Greg Saloga in I Love You, Beth Cooper, directed by Chris Columbus, and Jonas Konelle in Jennifer’s Body alongside Megan Fox. With an impressive resume, he plans to join many other well-known Canadian actors in the U.S. and has begun scouting locations in West Hollywood.
