Originating from Friendswood, a Houston suburb, Robin Coleman has left a Texas-sized mark on both the sports and entertainment industries. Growing up near petrochemicals, she's developed a bit of a bionic edge.
Robin describes herself as a blend of Anna Nicole, Anna Kournikova, and Queen Latifah — a tall, curvy blonde athlete who earned a third-place finish in a world sporting event, all while maintaining a sharp, witty, and comedic perspective on life, with the occasional rhyme thrown in.
As both an actress and athlete, Robin has merged these talents professionally. In November 2007, she was chosen as one of twelve new American Gladiators for the revival of the beloved MGM sports series, which debuted on NBC prime time in January 2008. Drawing on her comedy skills and creativity, she crafted the character Hellga, an intense Nordic knockout persona, quickly becoming a fan favorite and a pop culture icon. Fighting crime in a skirt isn’t easy, but someone’s got to do it.
In addition to American Gladiators, Robin has appeared in various scripted TV shows, portraying characters such as Polaris on VIP and Tanya on Days of Our Lives. She’s also featured as herself on numerous reality, talk, and variety shows, including The Carson Daly Show, Deal or No Deal, Tabitha's Takeover, and Star Dates, where she famously went on a date with Screech from the ’90s hit Saved By the Bell. Comedy is her true passion, and that public date showcased it perfectly.
Robin’s pursuit of comedic acting led to an exciting opportunity in 2008 when she joined the Tyler Perry comedy franchise. Her first feature film role was in Madea Goes to Jail, after previously working on several independent and student films you likely haven’t heard of or seen. A devoted fan of Madea’s humor and uplifting messages, Robin describes working with Tyler Perry and the Atlanta cast and crew as a life-changing experience — even if Madea gave her a rough time behind bars. Hallelujah!
While in Los Angeles, Robin expanded her skills by studying method acting at the Baron Brown Institute and improv comedy at the Groundlings School. Her training also includes pro wrestling, boxing, rowing, and mixed martial arts. Despite how formidable she may seem, she insists she’s approachable and friendly.
As an athlete, Robin competed as a bodybuilder, figure competitor, rower, and strongwoman at the inaugural World’s Strongest Woman competition. Handpicked as one of eight elite competitors, she earned third place, establishing a reputation that set her apart in Los Angeles’ size-zero culture — a tall 6-foot woman who can lift a car and make you laugh is impossible to ignore.
