Julieth Restrepo (pronounced Juliet Reh-strep-oh) is an acclaimed Colombian actress and producer. She stars in Netflix's eagerly awaited limited series "The Residence," produced by Shonda Rhimes' Shondaland Productions, scheduled for release in early 2025. The show is a murder-mystery-thriller set at The White House, featuring an ensemble cast including Uzo Aduba, Randall Park, Giancarlo Esposito, and Susan Kelechi Watson. Julieth portrays Elsyie Chayle, a White House housekeeper caught up in a high-stakes murder investigation.
Recently, Julieth delivered a notable performance in Netflix's Emmy-nominated limited series "GRISELDA," acting opposite Sofia Vergara. She portrayed Marta Ochoa, a drug-addicted millionaire striving to collaborate with Griselda.
In cinema, Julieth returned to SXSW 2024 for the second consecutive year with the romantic comedy "Switch Up," playing Cassandra, the romantic interest of Ricardo De La Cruz (Cristián de la Fuente). At SXSW 2023, she starred in the thriller "Deadland" as border patrol officer Salomé Veracruz, now available on Prime. Additionally, she stars in the Colombian film "Dear Gentlemen," which premiered to critical acclaim at the end of 2024, playing Esmeralda Arboleda, a prominent Colombian women's rights activist. Her previous work includes a supporting role alongside Javier Bardem in "Loving Pablo," a feature about drug lord Pablo Escobar, where she played Escobar's wife.
Julieth is a well-known figure in Colombia, having received multiple awards for her television and film performances. She won Best Supporting Actress at TV y Novelas for "A Mano Limpia" (2011 and 2013) and again for "Comando Elite" (2014), alongside a nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role for "La Promesa" (2014). Her role in "Laura" earned her Best Actress in a Leading Role at the India Catalina Awards, Colombia’s equivalent of the Emmys (2016). In film, she has won Best Supporting Actress at the Premios Macondo for "Al Final del Espectro" (2006), "Estrella del Sur" (2013), and "La Semilla del Silencio" (2016). The Macondo Awards are presented by the Colombian Academy of Cinematography Arts and Sciences to honor achievements in Colombian cinema. Julieth has successfully transitioned from Spanish-language roles to English-language projects, gaining respect and recognition in the industry.
Beyond acting, Julieth leads her production company, Blue Rabbit Films. She executive produced "Unidentified Objects," a film that has won multiple awards, screened at 64 film festivals worldwide, and is available for streaming on Amazon Prime. Other projects include producing the short film "Rodrigo Branquias," set to premiere in 2025; producing the short films "Kisses to Kevin" and "La Via Lactea" (in which she also acted); and creating, acting in, editing, and producing the YouTube web series "The Real Mune." Hailing from Medellín, Colombia, Julieth began her acting journey at age 13, overcoming economic challenges with a taxi driver father and secretary mother. A shy child, she found solace on stage, working small jobs to fund her acting classes. At 18, she moved to Bogotá to pursue paid TV and film auditions.
