Biographie
Originally from Australia, Gavin is a creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer of numerous New Zealand and international television shows.
Most recently, he co-created and wrote Bad Mothers (co-produced by his company, Filthy Productions) for Channel 9 in Australia. He also co-created, showran, and wrote Hyde & Seek (for Matchbox Pictures), which aired on Channel 9 in both Australia and New Zealand.
Gavin co-created and wrote two series of Filthy Rich for Filthy Productions. A US adaptation is currently being developed by Imagine TV, directed and written by Tate Taylor. He also co-created and wrote Dirty Laundry, another Filthy Productions project. Additionally, he served as screenwriter and executive producer for the historical telemovies What Really Happened - Votes For Women and What Really Happened - Waitangi, both broadcast on TV One.
He co-created the popular series Go Girls and Nothing Trivial, and was showrunner and writer of the critically acclaimed This Is Not My Life.
Gavin co-wrote the feature film Matariki (directed by Michael Bennett), which was selected for the Toronto International Film Festival and released in 2010.
He created and wrote Being Eve, which was nominated for an International Emmy and won a New York Gold Medal. His other credits include Kaitangata Twitch, Burying Brian, Maddigan's Quest, Mercy Peak, The Chosen, Jackson's Wharf, the Lawless telemovies, and the UK CBBC series Living It.
From 1992 to 1994, Gavin worked on Shortland Street as its first script editor and head writer, later producing the series in 1995.
