Gian Keys Biography (12/2016)
In just a few years, Gian Keys has rapidly emerged as a talented actor, showcasing a captivating screen presence and impressive skill that mark him as a rising leading man in Hollywood. He stars in the critically acclaimed, stylish dark comedy feature film, The Love Witch, now showing in theaters across the United States. Esteemed critics like A.O. Scott of The New York Times described it as "Impossible to resist... fascinating, perfectly composed... marvelously dark, like love itself." Franck Scheck of The Hollywood Reporter praised the film and its cast, calling it "Destined to be a cult classic... excellently executed... the director has drawn committed performances from her outstanding ensemble." Gian Keys captivates audiences with his compelling presence, blending striking good looks, deep empathy, and clear purpose—embodying a classic screen archetype reminiscent of Clint Eastwood or Steve McQueen, while remaining fresh and relatable.
The Love Witch tells the story of Elaine, an attractive single woman who uses witchcraft to manipulate her romantic relationships. However, her secret love potions have deadly consequences, turning men into trembling, sobbing wrecks who meet tragic ends. This draws the attention of 'Detective Griff Meadows,' portrayed by Keys, who must decide whether to arrest Elaine or fall for her. The film has earned acclaim for its unique feminist perspective, using the witch figure as a metaphor for women as manifestations of male fears and subverting traditional gender roles in the pursuit of love and sex.
Demonstrating his versatility, Gian recently starred as a lead series regular in the comedic web series F**Kin' Actors, alongside Spencer Breslin (M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening). The show follows 'Chase,' played by Keys, and Ryan (Ashton Bingham) on their humorous journey chasing acting careers in Los Angeles. Co-created and produced by Keys, the series has won multiple awards for Best Web Series at festivals including Los Angeles Cinefest, Los Angeles Independent Film Festival Awards, FirstGlance Film Fest Hollywood, and Hollywood International Moving Pictures Film Festival.
Gian has also held lead roles in network television series such as The Discovery Channel’s Blood Relative, starring Brenda Strong; HBO’s Hotel Erotica; and Spike TV’s Tattoo Nightmares, starring Nicole Eggert, among others. His commanding physical presence on screen stems from his unique background. Before acting, Gian served four years as a U.S. Air Force air traffic controller, a demanding role responsible for the safety of millions of dollars in aircraft and countless lives. During his service, he began competitive bodybuilding, dedicating a decade to naturally sculpting his physique. After retiring from bodybuilding, Gian shifted his focus to acting and modeling. In 2003, he signed with the prestigious L.A. Models agency. He began studying acting in 2012 and has since appeared in numerous film and media projects, including national commercials for major brands such as Budweiser, Ford, Volvo, Old Spice, and Nationwide Life Insurance.
Gian continues to hone his craft under the guidance of renowned acting coach Joe Palese and eagerly seeks roles that challenge his creativity. Committed to maintaining his physical health, he enjoys beach volleyball, surfing, and competing in triathlons and Ironman events. Gian currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
